Q and A

10 questions to ask before hiring your DJ……… (Outlined by the adja.org)
  1. Are we guaranteed the DJ of our choice on the day of our event? A written contract with your specific DJ protects you from unscrupulous operators.

Bill's answer - You get me, my experience, skills and personality……I do not hire other DJ's.

  2. How many years of experience do you have? Experience brings knowledge of common problems and situations. Be sure your DJ has experience with your type of event.

Bill's answer - I have DJ'd over 800 events, specializing in weddings as well as DJing every other type of event on the event's page of this website. I've been a DJ over 8 years as well as a public speaker/MC and youth director for 14 years prior to beginning my DJ career.

  3. May we call your references? References are a major part of the entertainment business.

Bill's answer - Yes! Feel free to request a reference sheet with additional quotes from satisfied clients whom have given permission to be contacted by phone and/or e-mail.

  4. Do you belong to any professional associations or trade groups? An involved business person shows a willingness to learn, network and share ideas. Belonging to a professional trade group reflects a caring attitude.

Bill's answer - I am a member of the American Disc Jockey Association (ADJA) and the Colorado Professional Disc Jockey Association (CPDJA).

  5. Will you allow requests? Requests should be welcome. If a song seems inappropriate, a good DJ will explain the reason and ask for an alternative selection.

Bill's answer - Requests are gladly taken from the Planning Sheet of the Bride and Groom or host of the party as well as from guests as long as they fit with the direction I've been given to play.

  6. How early will you be there to set-up? An average of 60 minutes should be allowed for set up and sound check. Normally there is no additional charge for this service.

Bill's answer - I arrive at least an hour in advance even though it takes less time to set-up. There is no charge for set-up or tear down.

  7. How will you be dressed? Proper attire reflects a positive image to your guests.

Bill's answer - I am open to your guidance but typically wear a black dress shirt, dress slacks, and black dress shoes.

  8. Are you insured? Insurance is a part of any legitimate business. Liability and causality policies protect yourself, your guests and your DJ company.

Bill's answer -Even though I've never had to use it I carry a 1 Million dollar umbrella policy as peace of mind for all involved.

  9. Do you use professional gear? Using professional sound equipment (including pro CD players) helps insure reliable service and quality presentation.

Bill's answer - I have top of the line sound equipment! This is another advantage of being a single system operation - I can buy the best sound, lights and handheld cordless mic!

  10. Will you provide an emergency back-up system at our event? Weddings, Bar Mitzvahs and special events are often once in a lifetime opportunities. A back-up system protects your investment.

Bill's answer - Even though I've never had to use it I always carry a second system as back-up or can use it for ceremony music.
